Trajans with Yves Leterme
I signed up for an online Trajans class with Yves, and it was great. I learned a lot, even though I did get to the most interesting (and most challenging) part of the class — brush letters. I would definitely take the class again if I had an opportunity, just so I could do the final part that I missed.
The class consisted of 3 main sections: pencil letters, pen letters, and brush letters.
Pencil letters
This part of the class was the most straight-forward: we needed to draw each letter shape with a pencil, and make sure to follow all of the proportions.
I found it to be quite enjoyable because there was a clear answer on what to do in each case.
Pen letters
Next, we moved onto broad-edge pen, and the goal was to write out the letters with the same proportions, but using a different tool.
Strangely enough, I feel like I did better with assignment for week 3 (all letters of the alphabet) than week 4 (a short single word).
I think part of it is that there are fewer letters in a single word, so it's easier to focus on a particular one, and dive into its deficiencies. And of course the pressure is on to get the spacing right!
I wish I could share the brush letters with you as well, but I don't have them. I think I did some basic stroke practice, and then I had to drop the class due to some travel plans. As I said, I would like to take it again, and pick up where I left off.
