Creativity takes courage

I will freely admit to this one being one of my most "cheaty" projects. The task was to write out a quote:

Creativity takes courage. — Henri Matisse

I wanted to write huge pointed pen letters, but that was hard for 2 reasons:

1. I didn't have a flexible enough pointed pen to achieve the size I wanted.
2. My pointed pen letters aren't great, and making them larger would only make them worse.

So, I cheated. I wrote the word I wanted quite small, and then scaled it up in Photoshop, printed it out, and traced it.

Voila, now I have the "huge pointed pen" effect. I used a light table to trace the outline onto nicer paper, and filled in the shapes with a Micron Graphic 1 pen.

I should have written "Henri Matisse" a bit smaller now that I think about it.
